Hello.

I wanted to first thank you all for supporting real independent music in 2011. With the release of Screaming Trees “Last Words” on Barrett Martin’s Sunyata Label and the Microdot Gnome and Legend of Bigfoot releases on Strange Earth 2011 was just the start of a waterfall of great music coming your way.

We have a lot planned for you in 2012. Right now I working on firming up dates but here is what I am thinking right now.

We are also working with The Legend of Bigfoot on putting out their full length record but it is still in the works so we can’t even make a guess at when it will be ready and out.

And yes there are one or two more bands bubbling up from the underworld that we are in talks with so keep an eye out for more info soon!

Thunder Chief – Strange Earth Records

Right on the heels of the new Screaming Trees album “Last Words” is some great new music from Trees drummer Barrett Martin. “Atlas” is the Barrett Martin Group’s 4th album, and like the Trees album, it was produced by Barrett and Seattle legend Jack Endino. Described by one music critic as “the best instrumental album of the year”, Atlas is a world/jazz/soul/funk groover with 13 songs that clocks in at just over an hour in length.

It is now available here on the Sunyata Records website as both a CD or a digital download on I-Tunes. We will mail the CD to you anywhere in the world as part of our world domination plan for 2012, and we thank you so much for supporting indie music, and we wish you all a fantastic new year in 2012!

Strange Earth Records own The Legend of Bigfoot is this weeks BJ’s Loud and Local Band of the Week.

Listen in on Friday morning to hear there music featured on BJ’s show and Sunday 11/13/2011 at 11:00pm on Loud and Local the boys will be on air with Jolene and Strange Earth Records Founder Van Conner.

Mark Lanegan Band returns with new album, Blues Funeral Blues Funeral is the new Mark Lanegan Band record, the first since 2004′s Bubblegum. It was recorded in Hollywood, California by Alain Johannes at his 11ad studio.

The music was played by Johannes and Jack Irons with appearances from Greg Dulli, Josh Homme et al.

He resides in Los Angeles and has two dogs.

Blues Funeral will be available digitally and on CD and LP on February 6th, 2012 via 4AD.

To coincide, Mark Lanegan Band will tour Europe next year.
